Canada Day at the Muttart Conservatory


Celebrate our nation’s birthday with a visit to the Muttart Conservatory. Enjoy lively music with the jazz group “Six Feet Up”, Canada Day crafts, caricatures with Laurel Hawkswell , face painting with Beyond Face painting and family fun. There will be a search through the pyramids to discover our own native plants. Take a tour and find out about “Patriotic Plants”. Discover which plants at the Muttart Conservatory are native to Canada as we celebrate Canada Day! Take a look at the maple as well as plants that are important national symbols around the world.

Parc Fort Edmonton Park – Fête du Dominion

The Park is festooned with bunting for a grand celebration of the Dominion of Canada then and now!  Join UP 99.3 FM radio on location to mark this prestigious July 1 holiday gathering.

Following the July 1st parade, visitors will be treated to a delicious slice of free cake while taking in the Amazing Variety Show inside Blatchford Field Air Hangar.  This will be a fun weekend to remember as on Saturday, the celebration continues as music and historical vignettes add to the ambience of the park.  Fort Edmonton Park opens its doors at 10 a.m., event activities begin at 11 a.m.

Sturgeon County Canada Day at the Edmonton Garrison

Be a part of the day to celebrate Canada's 144th birthday on July 1, 2011 with the soldiers and their families responsible for keeping our country the True North, Strong and Free.

The Garrison admission is free and open to the public. Many activities are happening in Sturgeon County on Canada Day. Make a day of it and visit the County. Here is a sample of what is happening in the Sturgeon region on Canada Day.

Canada Day Timeline
Canada Day activities begin at 11:00 am and families will be treated to a number of displays and activities throughout the afternoon:
1100hrs – 1700hrs military equipment
1100hrs – 1700hrs Garrison Mascots
1100hrs – 1700hrs car show and shine
1100hrs – 1700hrs family/children related events such as clowns, balloon art, face painting
1100hrs – 1700hrs kiddies commando course
1100hrs – 1700hrs vintage military vehicle display
1130hrs – 1430hrs there will be a Sturgeon County food tasting event (Sturgeon County Bounty)
1100hrs – 1700hrs the Indy Cars will be present
1100hrs – 1700hrs Small Arms static display
1100hrs – 1700hrs Static Helicopter display
1100hrs – 1700hrs Ridged Hulled Inflatable Boat (RHIB) Navy display
1100hrs – 1700hrs Fire Department display and challenge
1300hrs – 2200hrs the Beer Gardens will be operating
1300hrs CF-18 flyover
1400hrs – 1600hrs aerial acrobats and fly over by Chris Hadfield in an F-86 Sabre
1700hrs the Grand Stand will begin with the musical performers taking the stage
2300hrs the Fireworks will begin timed to music
2315hrs Final Fireworks display timed to Oh Canada
